Coal mine fire kills 16 workers

A conveyor belt caught fire and produced dangerous levels of carbon monoxide at a coal mine in southwest China on Sep. 27, killing 16 workers and injuring one other, Firstpost reported citing media sources. The facility, Songzao Coal Mine, is owned by state energy firm Chongqing Energy Investment Group Co. Ltd. and is located just outside the city of Chongqing.
