Indonesia is targeting creating the largest reinsurer in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations following a merger of PT Reasuransi Indonesia Utama and Reasuransi Internasional Indonesia, reported Asia Insurance Review citing Antara News.
The merger agreement was signed recently.
The new national reinsurer is anticipated to reduce capital outflow of reinsurance premiums in the country.
The reinsurer will aim to generate premium income of about 9 trillion Indonesian rupiah ($607.5 million) by 2017.
