Lloyd's of London insurer Beazley P.L.C.'s gross written premiums increased by 7% to $583 million in the first quarter of 2016, boosted by robust growth in its specialty lines, reports Reuters.

Beazley's gross written premiums from specialty lines amounted to $261 million during the quarter. Gross written premiums for marine insurance dropped 7% and premium rates on renewal business decreased by 1% in the quarter, said Beazley.
