BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

The New York State Department of Financial Services said on Thursday that it has named New York-based Scott Fischer executive deputy superintendent for insurance.

Mr. Fischer will lead the insurance division of the department, which supervises 1,700 insurers, the financial services department said in a statement.

Previously, Mr. Fisher was special deputy superintendent at the New York Liquidation Bureau. He succeeds Troy Oechsner who now serves as deputy superintendent for health insurance, according to a department spokesman.

In addition, Laura E. Evangelista has been named deputy superintendent for insurance. This is a newly created position. Previously, Ms. Evangelista was vice president and assistant general counsel at Nausch, Hogan & Murray Inc., according to the statement.

“We welcome Scott and Laura, with their deep insurance and legal backgrounds, to the executive team at DFS,” Maria T. Vullo, acting superintendent of the department of financial services said in the statement. “Together they bring invaluable government and industry experience to the pool of talented professionals at DFS.”

The spokesman said that they are still awaiting senate confirmation before announcing a permanent superintendent.
