The Society of Actuaries has elected Jeremy J. Brown, the former chief actuary of Mutual of America Life Insurance Co., as its 2015-2016 president-elect.
Mr. Brown will become president at the society's 2016 annual meeting and exhibit, which will take place Oct. 23-26 in Las Vegas, the society said Wednesday in a statement.
Earlier this year, Mr. Brown retired from New York-based Mutual of America Life, where he was executive vice president and chief actuary.
He has served as a member of the Society of Actuaries board as its partner for education, and was chair of its professionalism education management committee, a member of its learning strategies task force, a member of its education executive group and facilitator of SOA professionalism courses, according to the statement.
In the statement, Mr. Brown said his goals for his term would be to “maintain the SOA's prestigious credentials and continuing education efforts, improve relationships with other actuarial organizations, help grow the SOA on a global level, and support research to find new opportunities for actuaries to improve financial security for the public.”
Schaumburg, Illinois-based SOA is a research and professional membership organization for actuaries in the U.S. and Canada.
