Lamia Ben Mahmoud, chief executive of Tunisia's Tunis Re, has said that 58% of the world’s nations that are exposed to natural disasters are in Africa and that governments need to insure against them properly, reports Asia Insurance Review.
The governments of African nations must create public-private-partnerships with the insurance sector. African Reinsurance Corp. managing director and chief executive Corneille Karekezi said that only 5% of Africa's natural catastrophes are insured, putting a heavy burden on governments on the continent.
