Austral Re's net income climbs 36%

Brazilian reinsurer Austral Resseguradora S.A. posted a net income of 18.8 million Brazilian reals ($6 million) in 2014, Segs.com.br reports.

That is up 36% from what it reported the year prior and more than 400% higher than in 2011. Austral Re's gross written premium increased 36% year on year to BRL 445 million for the period. The reinsurer reported 97.3% combined ratio in 2014. Austral Re received a series of positive ratings from rating agencies in 2014.
