Rains cause economic losses worth $335.2 million in China

The drought and flood prevention office of China's Fujian province has said that heavy rains in the province has affected 242,000 people and claimed one life, Xinhua reports.

The office said that downpours have resulted in direct economic losses worth 2.08 billion Chinese yuan ($335.2 million).

Around 2,490 houses and 21,300 hectares of farm produce have been damaged.

The stormy weather is forecast to continue in Zhangzhou, Longyan, Sanming, Quanzhou and Xiamen.
