BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

New York insurance overseer to step down

Benjamin M. Lawsky will step down as New York's superintendent of financial services late next month, the New York State Department of Financial Services announced Wednesday.

Mr. Lawsky became New York's first superintendent of financial services in 2011. The Department of Financial Services — which regulates insurance in New York — was created by the merger of the state banking and insurance departments.

“I am deeply proud of the work our team has done building this new agency and helping strengthen oversight of the financial markets,” said Mr. Lawsky in a statement. “We have assembled a great team at NYDFS, and I have full confidence that the critical work of this agency will continue seamlessly moving forward.”

A spokesman for the Department of Financial Services declined to comment on Mr. Lawsky's future plans.
