American International Group Inc. on Wednesday said its deputy chief investment officer, Brian T. Schreiber, has been named to the newly created role of executive vice president and chief strategy officer.
In his new role, Mr. Schreiber will oversee the insurer's global strategic planning efforts, mergers and acquisitions and divestitures, and communications, which includes corporate marketing, brand, external and internal communications, digital media, and philanthropy and volunteerism, AIG said in a statement.
An 18-year veteran of the company, New York-based Mr. Schreiber will share responsibility for investor relations with AIG Chief Financial Officer David Herzog, AIG said. He will report to AIG President and CEO Peter D. Hancock.
“Brian, in both operating and transactional roles, has demonstrated seasoned leadership in the best and worst of times for our company,” Mr. Hancock in the statement. “His broad scope of expertise and deep understanding of the company will be enormously valuable in helping us shape our path and manage future challenges.”
Douglas M. Steenland will succeed Robert S. “Steve” Miller as nonexecutive chairman of American International Group Inc.’s board, effective July 1, AIG announced Thursday.
