A volcanic eruption in Japan has prompted the country's airlines to cancel or divert flights, reported The Sun Daily. The eruption of Mount Aso formed a cloud of ash and smoke.
"We cancelled eight flights departing from Kumamoto and four flights arriving there," a Japan Airlines Co. Ltd. spokesman said. One international flight had to be cancelled and one was diverted, said an airport spokesman. JAL and All Nippon Airways Co. Ltd. informed passengers about several flight cancellations and diversions to and from the Kumamoto airport.
