Damage from recent Japan quake unlikely to top $200 million: Catastrophe modeler

CoreLogic Eqecat, a catastrophe modeler, has said that damage from the recent Japan earthquake is "unlikely to exceed $200 million," reported TradingCharts.com.

The 6.2-magnitude earthquake hit Nagano region in central Japan, injuring many and damaging around 40 homes, CoreLogic said. While there was no substantial damage, "structural damage is possible," the modeler said. Meanwhile, the General Insurance Association of Japan said sales of earthquake insurance coverage have been on the rise in the country.
