BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Crawford merges complex claims units

Crawford & Co. on Friday announced it will merge its recently launched specialty markets claims unit with its established Global Technical Services claims unit.

The Atlanta-based claims management company's specialty markets unit, which was launched in July 2013, focuses on energy, marine, aviation, forensic accounting and mining for Lloyd's of London and the international adjusting market firms. The more established Global Technical Services unit works on a wide range of large, complex losses, Crawford said in a statement.

“After an intensive review, we decided to accelerate the merging of two complementary units,” Crawford President and CEO Jeffrey T. Bowman said in the statement. “Our focus now is on the strategic development of GTS services and its top adjusting talent.”

Mike Reeves, one of the founders of Global Technical Services and executive vice president of global markets, a division that provides consulting services to international clients, will head the combined business, effective Dec. 1, according to the statement.

While the specialty markets unit was created last year, the Global Technical Services unit was formed in the 1990s, a Crawford spokesman said.

The name for the combined business is Global Technical Services, the spokesman said. He said he wasn't aware of any head-count reductions resulting from the merger.
