Hub names president for national employee benefits practice

Mike Barone has been named president of Hub International Ltd.’s national employee benefits practice, a newly created position charged with directing and enhancing Hub’s investments in employee benefits products and solutions for middle-market employers, the company reported.
These solutions support employers with benefits strategy and administration, population health management, employee engagement and communication, health care reform guidance and compliance, as well as ongoing client exchange technology solutions, the company said in a statement.
Previously, Mr. Barone served as president of Hub International’s San Diego operations, having joined Hub as part of its 2012 acquisition of Intercare, an employee benefits consultancy and brokerage operation. Mr. Barone will continue to oversee all of the San Diego and Orange County operations of Intercare in addition to leading Hub’s national employee benefits practice, according to the statement.
Mr. Barone also will become part of the Chicago-based brokerage firm’s executive management team, the company said. He will be based in San Diego.
