Canada's government is planning to extend the oil-by-rail disasters' insurance burden beyond just railways, reports Reuters citing a government official.
It is also considering a special fund, similar to a fund that was previously established for maritime oil spills, the official said.
The move follows the destruction caused by a runaway oil train explosion in Quebec in 2013.
Estimates say that around 400 million Canadian dollars ($362.2 million) could be incurred in cleanup costs.
